Pro Art Event - Host of Sparrows Aerial Circus

From Virginia’s first professional contemporary circus company comes MetaMORPHOsis, a performance that celebrates the life cycle of the morpho butterfly. Aerial silk performers creatively interpret the journey of the caterpillar emerging from the egg, to the cocoon, and finally the magnificent transformation into a beautiful butterfly. Host of Sparrows Aerial Circus will perform MetaMORPHOsis on Friday, April 11th at 7 p.m. on the Lawn by the Lake at UVA Wise. The performance is free and open to the public and brought to you by the Pro-Art Association in conjunction with The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. For the original MetaMORPHOsis production at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in 2019, Host of Sparrows Aerial Circus worked with an arborist to create a beautifully choreographed show of aerial silks artists suspended from a mighty oak tree—32 feet in the air. The company is based in Richmond, Virginia, and has a mission to provide everyone the opportunity to experience, learn, and perform the challenging, empowering, and creative arts of circus in a safe and inclusive environment. Like their feathered mascots, Host of Sparrows believes that everyone—no matter how “ordinary”—has the ability to do amazing things if they are given the chance to spread their wings.
