Locus, formerly Virginia Community Capital (VCC), creates equitable access to capital through community partnerships and innovative tools that tackle systemic challenges and advance promising opportunities. Locus is a community development financial institution (CDFI), which means its lending activity is focused on places where the capital system is not working for everyone.

Virginia Small Business Development Center

The Virginia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) located at Mountain Empire Community College offers free business consulting, affordable training courses, personal referrals to local resources, guidance, insights, and connections to help businesses succeed. The Small Business Development Center at Mountain Empire Community College is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
